How long can I check out an ebook?

Answer

With the majority of our ebooks, you have the option to read online. However, you may want to download the ebook for offline reading. There are different download loan durations based on how UT Libraries purchased the ebook (unlimited user access, 3 user access, or 1 user access). You will be prompted with these options when viewing the ebook.

ProQuest Ebooks

You will have the option to download the entire ebook to Adobe Digital Editions (PDF or EPUB). You can also download individual PDF chapters.

  • Unlimited Users- 1, 7, 21, 180, or 365 days
  • 3 Users- 1, 7, or 21 days
  • 1 User- 1 or 2 days

EBSCO Ebooks

You will have the option to download the entire ebook to Adobe Digital Editions (PDF or EPUB). You can also download individual PDF chapters. Depending on publisher-specified limits, up to 100 pages of an EBSCO ebook can be printed, saved or emailed as a PDF file from within the ebook viewer to be printed at a later time.

  • Unlimited Users- 21 days
  • 3 Users- 7 days
  • 1 User- 2 days

Note: You will need Adobe Digital Editions to download entire ebooks from EBSCO or ProQuest. You will be prompted to download Adobe Digital Editions if you do not already have the software. You will also need an Adobe ID. We recommend creating an Adobe ID BEFORE downloading any ebooks to Adobe Digital Editions.

Our other ebook providers (like Wiley, Oxford Academic, or Taylor and Francis) offer online reading or PDF download options.
