What is Special Collections?

A special collection is a group of items, such as rare books and historic documents, that are too fragile, rare, or unique be held in the regular library stacks. These materials can be in a variety of formats, including physical and digital materials. The Betsey B. Creekmore Special Collections at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville contains over 80,000 rare books, the University Archives, and other historical materials centered around the East Tennessee region.
