iThenticate is a plagiarism-detection software that helps faculty and student researchers adhere to the ethical principles of research. The Office of Research & Engagement has a contract with iThenticate and is responsible for creating accounts and training. See ORE's website for more information.

iThenticate is intended to be used for scholarly works, including scholarly drafts for theses, dissertations, peer-reviewed journal submissions, and federal grant proposals. There is another product in Canvas, Unicheck, that is intended to be used for classroom writing assignments.

For more information on ethical writing practices and plagiarism-detection tools, please see the Scholarly Publishing Toolkit.
