Are there accessibility workarounds for JSTOR?

If the content of a JSTOR article is inaccessible to you, please contact eproblems@utk.edu to request an accessible alternative format.

JAWS , NVDA, Android TalkBack, and iOS VoiceOver screen readers may not be able to read foreign-language articles.  The following instructions may offer a workaround:

  • MacOS VoiceOver may offer the best experience
  • WindowOS – download the PDF of the article to your device, open the PDF in the Edge browser, and read it aloud using the Read Aloud functionality in Edge.
  • Android -download the PDF of the article to your device, open the PDF in the Adobe Reader, and read it aloud using the Read Out Loud functionality in Adobe.
  • iOS - it does not seem possible to download an article if VoiceOver is activated.
