Can I use a screen reader or keyboard navigation to access Thesaurus Linguae Graecae?

Users of keyboard navigation in Firefox or Safari may need to use non-standard keys to activate drop-down listboxes, such as the down arrow or spacebar.

Users screen reader swipe/gesture navigation should avoid Android devices.

Users of screen readers may have difficulty understanding the pronunciation of the ancient Greek text.  Avoid using Narrator, JAWS, TalkBack, and iOS VoiceOver. MacOS VoiceOver offers the best listening experience.

  • For a smoother listening experience, be sure to change the “Links” drop-down at the top right of the page from “Active” to “No Links.”

  • NVDA can also read ancient Greek, but only with the eSpeak NG speech synthesizer. To change your NVDA speech synthesizer:

  • Open NVDA

  • Open settings (Caps Lock + N)

  • Open preferences > Settings >Speech > Synthesizer
